God of War is running flawlessly at 4K 60FPS on the PS5 with Patch 1.00 on the Disc Version

At 3:09 (if the timestamp didn't redirect) we can see the game running smooth as butter at 4K 60FPS on the original disc version without any patches applied.

Why don't Sony Santa Monica give us a patch to have the frame rate locked to 60FPS in Resolution mode? It was like that, and shouldn't be a problem at all whatsoever!

I wish we could all message them about it together!

Guys. I did it. I just beat NG+ on Give Me God of War. This is my first time ever beating a game, hell even playing, on a hard difficulty.

God of war ragnarok and dealing with Kratos possible death

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 10:16 AM PST

If you completed the game which most should have we all have seen the painting of Atreus holding possibly Kratos and people say that it's definitely not him but we have to think about how his death could be a great beginning to the game. Firstly we have to consider how Kratos has already escaped hell before so escaping death isn't a problem plus he freed the Valkyries , killed the gate guard to hell , and already escaped from hell IN the new god of war. So all things considered he could die and the whole game is us escaping hell or even Asgard due to Kratos being from another religion and being a GIANT source of knowledge to Odin. But this is just what I think how the game could play out and I love to hear all the theories you guys have come up with too.

Using the sequels to enhance the story of the Greek era games.

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 04:31 AM PST

There's been a lot of talk about Kratos maybe traveling back to Greece, and I thought about what would appeal to me about this idea:

It would be great if it's not so much traveling back to Greece as much as Kratos using some kind of Vanir temporal magic device to sift through time like a magical surveillance camera and track Tyr's journey in order to find out where he has ended up.

What we discover is that Tyr had actually done business with the Greek gods, namely Athena, passing on his foreign knowledge that allowed her to eventually ascend to the monotheistic plane of godhood. Athena, having been affected by the evils of Pandora's Box, took some of that with her when she died/ascended, and it becomes a greater arching plot down the line, when Sony Santa Monica chooses to explore monotheistic religions, after they've had enough with polytheistic ones.

In tracking his movements, we as the audience get a glimpse not only of Greece, but the early parts of the Great War between the gods and Titans. We as the audience through Tyr, get to see the familiar faces from the handheld games as well as glimpses of the very many Greek gods we never ended up seeing at all. Like Dionysus, Demeter, and many more.

But crucially, it would be great if the point of the scene is seeing Tyr going to Olympus to gain wisdom about war and peace, to see what he can learn about the Great War to apply to the politics of his own nation, but then being an accidental witness to Ares killing Hestia, the goddess of family (giving way to Ares using Kratos' family in GOW1 where he might have been magically forbidden to do so before) which then propels the Ares v. Zeus conflict.

It's also an opportunity for the audience to see how much more complicated Zeus and his brothers were before they were affected by Pandora's curse. SSS could also use the opportunity to hint that the curse is what led to the division — leading to very literal infighting — and eventual culling of the many Greek Gods (between GOW1 and GOW2) down to however many were left at the beginning of GOW3.

You wouldn't have to be explicit about most of this either. Just having these pieces gives the fans enough to put 2 and 2 together, which enhances the mythology of the Greek Era of games, allowing us to see what those characters look like with increased graphical fidelity as well as a different time of their personalities.

Will this game get a PS5 patch?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 07:55 AM PST

I'm playing God of War 2018 for the first time on my brand-new PS5, and while the game is great, I'm disappointed with the technical performance. There's "Favor Performance" and "Favor Resolution" options available, which is nice, but "Favor Performance" yields 1080p at about 60FPS while "Favor Resolution" yields 4K at ... something like 10FPS. Honestly I couldn't believe how choppy Resolution mode was, it seemed like something was straight up broken.

Any news of a patch? I'm still enjoying the game in performance mode, but the upscaled 1080p isn't ideal.

Does the Frost rating on Runic Attacks have any bearing on actual damage done? Ditto with Frost explosions and the Permafrost skill.

    Posted: 23 Nov 2020 01:36 AM PST

I've tried looking this up and have gotten some inconsistent information. Does a high Frost rating on a runic attack translate to more HP damage? Or does this only affect how much of the Frost debuff the move applies? I think the confusion comes in labeling it "Frost Damage" as I always interpret damage to mean lowering health and not applying a status effect. Same thing with building up Permafrost. Am I doing more HP damage with Permafrost active, or just building up Frost faster?
