From what I've gathered the traveler armor and the tut armor are good for early game but is that all I should be going for? What about hilts or talismans? Any help appreciated!

Forest playthrough on GMGOW and now I'm seeing the problems

So my first playthrough was on give me a challenge and it was challenging alright. However I didn't find too many enemies that problematic, except revenants. Now that I just beat the elf boss I'm realizing what people are taking about with elves being bullshit and badly designed. The blind is just a dumb mechanic. I hope I don't come around in the wulvers too, they weren't an issue on GMAC.
