    More Favours

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 07:10 AM PDT

Was hoping for some more favours in Alfheim and Helheim, was dissapointed to find those realms only really had collectibles and chests to find sometimes with mini non-official side quests. Not that there wasn't an abundance of stuff to do in Midgard, just would've liked to see more of the other realms and maybe learn some more lore.

Breaking down Atreus' shocking strength as a kid and interesting powers

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 11:51 PM PDT

    • Atreus' combat capability and hunting ability

when Atreus was younger he went out of the protected woods that faye guarded and heard a cry for help with his power, he saw a deer but the hunter was a draugr, in desperation atreus killed a draugr and shattered the the sword of the draugr with one of his arrows.

Learns his father's lessons on hunting and shoots the boar in the end on his own without assistance

Atreus gains more confidence and combat experience and is able to physically hold creatures like draugr in one place for at least a short time or swinging his bow tripping them up(and how to unlock it)

Atreus survives on his own in Alfheim killing dozens of dark elves piling them up for hours and he got angry at kratos for leaving him.

Hears the minds of souls from the light of alfheim and novel expands on it more

    • Atreus language capability

Can interpret languages he doesn't even know even if roughly

Light arrows can stun and power null enemies

his lightning arrows can hurt kratos and stun him temporarily.

his arrows can hurt, stun and make baldur bleed.

    • Atreus strength

like before he can physically attack enemies like draugrs when he sees an opening

he hits baldur with his bow twice and does a beautiful kick which makes baldur bleed, holy shit what a powerful kid, hitting kratos strongest foe of this game.

    • Atreus' magic

atreus has an aptitude/affinity for magic and he enhanced his visual perception to fifty meters with perfect aim.

at the end of the day atreus' potential as a powerful warrior when he grows up is high and he is very powerful as a kid from his speed to catch up with kratos when he fought baldur, his casual durability when he jumps off thamur and when the ground breaks once jormi comes in and beats thamur.

What was your experience sharing GoW with friends?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 12:32 AM PDT

I played GoW 2018 about a month after release with a close friend and beat it in about a week. It was an absolutely mesmerizing experience on first playthrough. In the 3 years since then, I've "shared" the game by going over to friends' houses (pre-pandemic) and watching their first playthroughs. Some of my friends who have a ton of experience with action games took to it right away on Give Me a Challenge - they loved the intro and played along pretty smoothly - as an observer, it very much felt like they were "playing it as intended". It was a blast all around.

But for some other friends who had some-but-not-much gaming experience (and played on the lower difficulties easy/normal), the game didn't grab them because a couple of deaths killed the pacing. Reflecting on their experiences, they were playing the game ok in the early sections, but the first troll battle tended to take the wind out of their sails. When they saw how large its health bar was and how much damage they did to Kratos, they switched to an axe throw style, which is very monotonous and frankly boring at this stage of the game (since axe throws do very little damage and there are no runics). This created a rather dim first impression and made combat feel like a grind. I do think this is a game design/ difficulty curve issue since they had no problems with the early Draugr, but the troll pushed them to chose an extremely slow and conservative approach that was hard for them to enjoy.

After showing the intro to several other friends, I definitely think there's a pattern here - struggling in the troll fight unfortunately de-emphasized the funeral scene and made it feel flat. They likewise did not enjoy the Stranger battle since they died 2-3 times, which again killed the pacing, which was totally different from my first experience of being on the edge of my seat the entire time.

So I'm wondering, what were your first playthrough experiences, and if you shared it with a friend, how did they enjoy it? Design wise, what do you think could have been adjusted to make the intro more smooth in terms of difficulty and pacing?

Spoiler: Could these concept arts used in the text based game Call of the Wilds be related to that moment at the end of God Of War?

    GoW Theory!!

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:18 AM PDT

Kratos has been killing Gods for as long as he can remember but what if due to time travel and all the personal growth he had since he was Ghost of Sparta he actually is The All Father of Gods, what if he is the reason Gods exist.

Somehow he travels to the beginnings of all time and create Gods or the Gods are his legacy(children and their children after that) which create a sort of ever lasting loop that he is destined to kill and then rebirth all the Gods of the multi-pantheons.
