    Flairs now available

I'm tinkering around with the option of adding user flairs and post flairs to the sub. I've added some generic choices and left the option open for individuals to personalise them. This is being trialled so there may be some kinks to be ironed out, but for now, have at it folks.

Why couldn't the Gods be nice to Kratos?

    Posted: 10 May 2020 04:54 AM PDT

When I mean by that, I mean why didn't they just give Kratos an opportunity to revive his wife and child. If that happens, I'm sure Zeus's visions would have been averted?

Unpopular opinion: God of War III was a huge disappointment

    Posted: 10 May 2020 10:51 AM PDT

I just feel like it wasted so much potential and failed to emulate the atmosphere the first two games shared: that of the dreary beauty of the world of Greek mythology. In the first two games you embark on a journey that feels like a journey. From Athens to the middle of the desert of lost souls and the intricate labyrinth of Pandora's temple. And from Rhodes to the fringes of the world where few men dared to go (including epic characters like Perseus and Jason).

    1. GoWIII in comparison made you feel like you're exploring an elevator shaft, from mount olympus to mount olympus. Lots of backtracking made it feel more like DMC than GOW and worse still, there is no nuance in the architectural design. It was a random series of levels rather than an odyssey.
    2. Gen 7's awful approach to good graphics: Desaturate all colors, coupled with the direction making the world 'grim' by progressively crapping on the visuals as you advance (rain and pestilence and whatnot) made this one of the least visually appealing games ever. For those who say "what'd you expect the world was going down?" Yeah you can have the 'world gone to shit' plot and still maintain amazing visuals. GoW18 and GoWII attest to that. In the latter, you feel the oppressive nature of the world despite the lush and architecturally appealing environment. Partially thanks to the soundtrack.
    3. I feel like they should have made a grand battle at the beginning that levels the mount and then explore the mythology further in other locations. Maybe
      1. focus on other antagonists like the Titans. It seemed only thematically fitting. The first game, we saw Kratos' backstory. In the second, we saw the Olympians' past. The third should have featured Titans. Overall the Titans should have been more fleshed out, or even built-up for a sequel before GoW18 instead of the abominable Ascension prequel, a final chapter that segues more smoothly into Norse Mythology.
      2. Greek warfare. Finally see Kratos as a captain of a Spartan army, something that was very appealing in the second game's opening chapter.
    4. Zeus: We all knew Zeus was not yet defeated in GoW2, and that he was still the more powerful of the two, Kratos won through cunning. Sure, in that regard Zeus was still a formidable challenge. Except here he was made to look even more pathetic, and in the end reveal he felt nothing more than a Zombie thanks to the dumb trope of turning abstract ideas into literal entities. God of War was a one of a kind story to me. It was a story that about catharsis, the only story not to regurgitate the whole "vengeance won't bring them back" bullshit and do it right. Yet in the end beating the shit out of Zeus felt rather gratuitous in the third game. Because instead of the gods being 'cruel and uncaring' as Pathos put it, Zeus was a really good guy influenced by the Tesseract fear! So you're just beating the crap out of a sick old man. Whatever they were going for felt terribly executed. I wanted to fight an autonomous Zeus, an alpha god that was full of a sense of superiority. Instead I was fighting a parasitical goo-monster inhabiting a boomer. His fight was also mind-numbingly boring as it had so much repitition and they made it far too long for its own good, and the send-off was a barfight? Really? Many writers seem to think that you need to undo everything and go full circle or down to zero to tell a deep story?
    5. Boss fights: This is where they got really lazy. Beside the astounding direction of Poseidon and the rushed-yet-satisfying end of Hades, everything else fell short. Hercules was okay albeit a tad too short a plotline. I wished we could have seen more more of a rivalry in command here (as point 3 would have the plot extend beyond olympus) Kratos commanding the Spartans and Hercules amassing Greek armies and then they would have that as a subplot. Instead it felt pretty much the same as Kratos vs Theseus except Theseus, despite being less popular, was more interesting here as he wasn't acting like a jealous highschooler. Hermes could have been a very interesting speedster fight that required good reflexes but he was no more challenging than the regular enemies. Apollo and Perses were just a small QTE. Cronos was the embodiment of diminishing returns when it comes to boss sizes. During development many expected some Shadow of the Colossus kind of battle, but we ended up fighting a finger-nail.
    6. Lack of CGI: CGI scenes in GOW felt like a great reward for reaching a certain point, and they always looked amazing. The issue here is that SSM and the collective Gen 7's overconfidence that 'games then looked just as good as CGI anyway' got to their head and they wanted to make it "seamless" blend of scenes and gameplay. No one asked for this. The rationale that "gamers would otherwise be thrown off by the discrepancy in graphics is an insult to the gamers' intelligence. No one was complaining that those pre-rendered scenes "looked too good, please make them worse."

The game is not bad per se yet it was rife with bad decisions and missed opportunities. And for me, whose personal all-time favorite game is God of War II, it was a huge disappointment even if it was indeed a good game. I'd give it a 7/10 overall.

    Posted: 10 May 2020 09:43 AM PDT

Hey guys, i loaded up the game and i saw that my saved file wit the best progress i had in the game is gone, i had beaten the game and i was off to face the queen valkyrie , this was back in the summer of 2018 . But since i been trying to replay the story throughout 2019 and i guess the data from 2019 got overwritten over the saved data from the completed story i did in 2018 , is there any way i can get that saved file back ? I checked cloud saved data in the PS settings but its not there either

    Only took 10 years!

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:53 PM PDT

Just finished the game and have a couple questions!

    Posted: 09 May 2020 10:01 PM PDT

First off my god was that an incredible game I've never played anything like it and can see why it got GOTY. I saw the secret ending where Thor comes for you. So just a couple questions.

1.Is Artreus the same Loki as in Thor and Loki?

2.In the wiki it says Artreus is the father of the world serpent but how can that be if he is only like 10 years old?

3.How did Faye know the journey they went on before it happened when it was all written on the walls in the land of the giants.

3.5 On the wall kratos was looking at something underneath the sheet that kept flapping, what was it?

Edit: one more question, When they came back from the land of the giants why are they so close to Ragnarok? Did Freya cause it to happen

Animations are laggy when attacking (PS4 Pro)

    Posted: 10 May 2020 02:34 AM PDT

I got this game with a ps4 pro like a sucker a while ago, and havent been able to finish it as to what I can only describe as animation lag. Whenever I attack an enemy as kratos, no matter what weapon, the animations get very choppy to the point where it looks like very bad stop motion. I've uninstalled the game, changed to resolution mode, rebuilt the database, and it persists. I played it on my friends PS4 Pro and the lag wasnt there. Any tips on how I can fix this would be appreciated.
