Atreus dropping his mothers knife meant Kratos death

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:48 AM PST

This is my theory why Atreus dropping his mothers knife had much deeper meaning in the story.

It's pretty obvious that time travel is a thing in the new God of Wars saga, and we have met futures Atreus aka Loki, where you may ask? Early on the game Atreus and Kratos are trying to hunt down a boar, not just any kind of boar... This boar is Atreus (Loki) from the future.

The reason why the boar hovered around Atreus and Kratos home is because of the knife Arteus dropped. If the boar had not been there, Atreus would have dropped the knife and Kratos would have not noticed it and it would have lead to Kratos death. Remember in Tyr's treasure chamber when Kratos is about to drown and you have to solve the puzzle, well after they solved the puzzle, the ceiling still was about to kill Kratos... The only thing that saved Kratos was the Arteus mothers knife. Without that knife, Kratos would have died.

In future Loki's timeline, Kratos was already dead because he dropped his mothers knife. So he went back in time as a boar to be ''hunted'' by them which enabled Kratos noticing the knife that dropped.

When Atreus gets sick and Kratos takes him back to Witch, we hear the world serpents horn being blown... That was non other than Future Loki after he transformed back to his humanform, we did not see the boar at Witches cabin anymore.

What makes me say that the Boar is Future Atreus? Well here are the reasons:

    1. Did you see the yellow paintings on the boars sides? Same painting what Atreus mother used to guide Kratos and Atreus on their journey.
    2. Boar had Blue eyes, Atreus has blue eyes.

What you think about this theory of mine?

    Edit:

Loki could also be a Freyr, the brother of Freya. It is said in the game that World serpent arrived one day, what if Loki arrived with the serpent at the same time? Freyr's symbol is Boar, that is probably why we see Loki in Boar form. Freya always liked Atreus. What if in future Lokis timeline Kratos died and Freya was the one to look after Atreus. When future Loki arrived to the past same time with world serpent, that probably when he befriended Freya and Freya considered him as a brother. One day Atreus/Loki/freyr turns into boar (Probably to wait Kratos and young Atreus) and wait the fated day where he waits them to hunt him so Kratos notices the knife on the ground.

Also to note that the Light Elves are waiting for Freyr. Atreus and Kratos helped light elves to regain power, so that could be the name that light elves gave to Atreus ''Freyr'' (Which almost sounds like Free-er, could possibly mean savior?).

Loki is considered to be a trickster in norse mythology, i guess in God of Wars Atreus is many people.

    Loki Banishment/Ragnarok Theory

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 07:17 AM PST

Has anyone considered that the Aesir may already know of Loki's existence via prophecy, and in Odin's paranoid attempts to prevent the Ragnarok, he's had all instances of Loki stricken from any legends he was involved with/sent members of the Aesir to capture him and prevent the Ragnarok? There are plenty of instances where Mimir tells stories that Loki traditionally played a huge role in, according to myth, yet there's no mention of him in any of them, yet the Jormungandr exists via time travel fuckery, so we KNOW Loki must be as much of a big deal as in the myths. Maybe Odin was given a prophecy by Mimir that foretold Loki's war on Asgard, and Odin struck out to keep Loki's presence to a minimum or even keep from existing in the lore itself, until Kratos arrives in the story? Obviously there's some holes in my theory, but I feel like this would explain the deliberate avoidance of Loki in any of the stories he usually plays a key role in, maybe there's something to do with the cyclical nature of the mythology itself, or more weird time travel fuckery? Apologies if this comes off more as drunken rambling about headcanon or a bad fan fiction, I havent slept lol

Is the tutorial battle hard for anyone else?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 08:06 AM PST

I've played through the game three times and am on my fourth play through rn. I've gotten the platinum and would consider myself a general officianado of the game. However, the very first battle in the tutorial against all the draugr is so hard. I die all the time. I've never died to the troll (who's the real boss of the wildwoods), but the draugr beat the shit outta me for some reason. Anyone else had this experience?

I was trying the GMGOW mode on NG+. After all the struggling I've went through, after all the challenges I've completed, the hours spent by defeating the enemies...I've failed at the Jotenheim Tower. I gave up. I've failed all of you. I'm not worthy. I'm sorry.

SHOULD I PLAU THE GAME SLOWLY?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 06:24 AM PST

So, i started the game like a week ago, and i'm inside the mountain, right after "The light of Alfheim". I'm loving the game, but I've got other games to play but I want to finish GOW before. Should I just finish the game or explore and upgrade my gear, do side missions, ecc...? P.S. Two questions? 1) Am I at a good point of the story or not? 2) Can we free roam after the ending? Thanks and sorry for bad english EDIT: Oh shit I wrote "PLAU" on the title, sorry about that.

Best Order To Play The Series?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 05:10 AM PST

After the critical acclaim I decided to play God of War (2018) not long after it came out. Since completing it I've been meaning to go back and play the rest but never got round to it. Now that I'm finally about to start I'm wondering which is the best order to play them? Chronological or release? Is there a third way like the machete order for Star Wars?

When exactly did Kratos unlock his godly powers?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2020 04:42 AM PST

This is the one thing about the games that always bothered me.Kratos loses to the barbarian, who is a mortal, so it's safe to say he has little to no godly power at this point in his life(If he did,why did he never question his origins?).Throughout all the games he performs ridiculous feats of strenght. It stands to reason his encounter with Ares unlocked his dormant power...?If so,what of Deimos, who rams through concrete walls with no effort? He wasn't "initiated" yet he's clearly superhuman. Like what's the exact mechanism here? How does this work?
