Posted: 11 Sep 2021 08:48 AM PDT Not that God of War REALLY cares about an accurate portrayal but a fat Thor is probably the most genuine take on Norse Myth that I've seen in the game thus far. ​ Considering the myth where a Juton tricks him into drinking so much of the ocean through a drinking horn that the waterline recedes we can infer that the man has a drinking problem and would probably have a drinking belly. Thor is described as boisterous, and violent. He isn't some paragon of restraint, dedication, endurance and strength like Kratos. He's kind of a meathead in most stories. I also find it a bit strange to see that some people think it makes him less intimidating. Tyr is pretty damn intimidating and he was in shambles. A tall man with a hammer that harnesses the power of the sky, along with a full beard and eyes that literally glow? That's not intimidating because he has a gut? I hate to break it to you but fat dudes can be pretty damn strong. Hell, look at Hafþór Björnsson. He played the mountain in Game of Thrones and the guy has a substantial level of body fat. It's honestly sad to see so much discourse around something so stupid. The best part is that a game that messed up the iconography of the era and radically changed stories for the sake of reference as well as taking huge liberties in interpreting concepts from norse myth was universally praised but now that we have a fat god people are acting all sensitive.
