Just finished God of War (2018). What now?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:32 AM PST

    Hello God of War specialists,

I finally played and finished God of War and absolutely loved it, it was waaay better than I expected it to be. Especially the narrative and setting got me so invested, and that's where my question comes in.

I really wanna see the whole story of Kratos so ideally I wanna play all the older God of War games. But I'm a little confused on where to start since the original trilogy seems to have prequels too.

What would be the best order to play these games? Trilogy first, then prequels? The opposite? Or maybe watch a let's play because the gameplay doesn't hold up?

I hope someone who played them all can help me, thanks :)

First time player. This game is FREAKING AWESOME!!

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 02:27 PM PST

I got super lucky and was able to score a PS5 and made the switch from Xbox One S and discovered this whole new library of super amazing exclusives by Sony and picked up God of War GOTY edition for $10.

I have been playing it non stop for the last 3 days whenever I am not working or eating or sleeping or being a good fiance and sharing the TV. And I am soooo excited to be playing this game. I have barely scratched the surface I think and omg, I can't stop gushing about it.

Everything about this game is so well thought out and straight up mind-blowing. The quest and the story line is super engaging. The grind doesn't feel like it and the side missions don't feel like a chore. There's depth and character to everything and everywhere. The payoffs for fights are great and I love Atreus!! That kid's going places I think.

Sorry if this seems weird or something. I just wanted to find someone to geek out over how good the game is and figured this should be a place for it.

Is it worth it to use Skal Slag on Ivaldi’s armor for Niflheim in New Game+? Basically, is Niflheim worth it?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:35 AM PST

I'm playing New Game+. Are the Niflheim mazes worth to go through? I know they're impossible to traverse without crafting Ivaldi's armor. What makes this realm worth it? Honest question.

Will i still get all the loot i would on an extra hard run? Will it still count towards platinum trophy? Will i be able to turn the difficulty back up again after i kill her?

Theory about a boss from God of War 2 (Spoiler also for God of War 2018)

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:50 AM PST

(English is not my first language, so sorry if this is a bit bad written)

I recently played God of War 2 again and it got me thinking about the Kraken boss. What if it was sent by Odin.

I know, the reason why it is in the game is because it is a reference to the film "Clash of the Titans" (the old one from the 80s) - but that could be changed.

The reasons why I think this might be true (the details for this I got from the 2018 game and the book "God of War: Lore and Legends" - a great book for every fan of God of War). It is mentioned that Odin traveled to Jötunheim for a peace conference. His real intentions were of course to gather as much info/intel on the giants and their provicies. If he saw there the mural of Kratos and what is going to happen, he would likely have liked to prevent all of this. So he would look everywhere for this special "giant" - with his ravens and his spies.

We also know that the god Tyr (the Norse god of war) traveled to other pantheons and realms. Maybe when he visited Greece he told Odin about the Ghost of Sparta - or most likely he had a spy in Tyr's ranks which told him about Kratos.

So now that Odin knows where this warrior is, he sends someone to kill him. Many would think that this would have to be Thor, the Aesir greatest warriors - but I think Odin would be too paranoid to send away their greatest weapon. So he sends a Kraken to do his dirty work.

Of course Kratos is able to kill the Kraken and after God of War 3 gets to the Norse lands - where Odin finds him again, and after deducing that the Kraken must have failed, sends his Son Baldur after him.

I know, there are still some nonsensicals in this theory - but it was something cool to think about.
